Merriday School offers a program for children ages 3-12, that caters to the needs of working parents. Parents need a reliable place to care for their children, Monday through Friday, for over 50-weeks per year. We are open year-round with the exception of a few major holidays and the 1 week before Labor Day. We are open during the holiday break, Mid-Winter recess, and Spring break. We start at 7:00 am to accomodate parents' work schedules, and we close at 5:30 pm. We are also on the bus routes for the Syracuse City School District, so our before and after school program is helpful to many parents. |

Merriday School is family owned and operated for over 75-years. Our Director, Miss Jackie, and her husband, Don Pickard, took the school over from her mother. Their daughters Cindy, Kristy, Kelly, and Kerri have all worked in the school at one time or another, and Miss Kerri is now our Assistant Director. We take great pride in making sure that your children learn in a caring and supportive environment. It's our family taking care of your family, and we'll treat you like one of our own. |

Our teachers are New York State Certified and have a Master's degree in their chosen field of study. We will start a child as soon as their 3rd birthday. Our pre-school program is a hands-on program that includes learning to recognize the letters of the alphabet, writing their name, and starting to recognize and read words. Pre-school students complete many projects throughout a given week, focusing on a particular letter of the alphabet or theme. |

This basis for critical thinking and learning is continued in our pre-kindergarten program. Children ages 4-5 are exposed to projects and activities that prepare them for kindergarten success. They start daily writing exercises, continuing to practice writing their name and other words. The projects they work on require more manipulation on the part of the student, aiding in developing dexterity and accuracy. |
